For my maternity sessions, I love simple, comfortable outfits that feel natural and photograph beautifully. Especially for an at-home maternity shoot, you don't need a fancy dress or a completely new wardrobe — some of the simplest outfits can be the most timeless.
Here are three easy maternity photo shoot outfit ideas I'd recommend.
1. A relaxed matching co-ord
A matching shirt and shorts or trousers is an easy way to look put together without feeling too dressed up.
Think linen, cotton or another soft, flowy fabric. Choose something you can wear buttoned up, partly open or completely open over your bump.
It's comfortable, effortless and gives you a few different looks without actually needing to change outfits.
2. An open tie top with low-rise trousers or jeans
For something a little more casual, try a simple tie-front or wrap top worn open or loosely tied, with low-rise jeans or relaxed trousers.
This works particularly well if you want your maternity photos to feel more like *you* rather than a traditional maternity shoot.
Your favourite jeans, a simple top and your bump is honestly more than enough.
3. A crop top or bra with open-button jeans
For a really simple, stripped-back look, pair a crop top or bra with your favourite jeans, worn unbuttoned underneath your bump.
This is a great option for photographs that really focus on your bump and can look particularly beautiful in natural light at home.
You can always throw an oversized shirt over the top for some photos, then take it off for a few more minimal images.
Keep it simple
When choosing what to wear for maternity photos, my biggest advice is to choose something you feel comfortable in.
You don't need to buy a whole new outfit or dress up more than you normally would. Soft fabrics, relaxed shapes, bare feet and clothes that feel like *you* will always photograph beautifully.
